littleGIANTS was founded by Greek brothers, Ilias and Alexandros Poulias after travelling to Guatemala in 2001 for a business venture. In 2003, in the underprivileged area of Guatemala City – Zona 12, where their business warehouse was located, the Poulias brothers had their first encounter with the exceptional children of the neighborhood that would later inspire them to create what today is littleGIANTS.
The brothers shared stories, smiles and friendly chats, joining the children’s games and team sports. They quickly saw the bright spirit in their innocent eyes, and identified great talent and potential among these kids but at the same time realised that it would be extremely difficult for it to flourish given their unfavourable social and economic environment.
The precious bond that formed between them and the neighbourhood children, created the desire for the Poulias brothers to act towards a better future for these youngsters. Passion, hard work and perseverance led to the establishment on the 31st of May 2007, of what is today littleGIANTS; a non-profit organisation dedicated to working with underprivileged youth living in poverty, in the marginalised neighborhoods of Guatemala.
We currently have two fully operational educational centres in Guatemala. One in “Zona 12” of Guatemala City and a second one in the rural town of Panajachel in 2015 .
We are currently working on launching our first European Hub in Athens, Greece.
